The Perfect You, Right Now – A Flashback Friday Shoot

I didn’t get a chance to write a blog for this week and since I intended for blogs to go up Mondays!! I originally posted this one the last blog in July of 2020.

One of the most beautiful things about photography is its ability to capture the essence of a person in the present moment—just as they are. Recently (now not so recent this was 2020!), a friend from a past job enthusiastically volunteered to model for me, and this was about so much more than just taking pictures. It was a step toward my mission: to represent more body sizes, shapes, and abilities in front of the camera.

Too often, we’re led to believe that we need to reach a certain goal, change something about ourselves, or wait for the “perfect time” before we deserve to be seen and celebrated. But that simply isn’t true. Your body is worthy of love, appreciation, and documentation at every stage of life.

Bodies change—that’s normal. Life brings us through seasons of growth, transition, and transformation, and our bodies reflect that journey. Whether you’ve gained or lost weight, whether you’re healing, aging, or stepping into a new phase of life, you are enough exactly as you are.

This session was a reminder of the beauty in embracing the now. My friend showed up with confidence, vulnerability, and a willingness to be seen—and the images we created together are a testament to that courage.

I want you to know that a photoshoot isn’t about looking a certain way—it’s about feeling a certain way. It’s about honoring yourself, capturing memories, and seeing yourself through a lens of love and acceptance.

If you’ve ever hesitated to book a session because you weren’t sure if you were “ready,” consider this your sign: You already are. You are worthy of being seen, exactly as you are today.

Stay tuned for the images from this incredible shoot—I can’t wait to share them with you! And if you’re ready to step in front of the camera and celebrate yourself, let’s make it happen.
