Be Obsessed with yourself

In the best possible way

What if I told you that being yourself isn’t selfish—it’s revolutionary?

When I first started doing boudoir photography back in 2012, there was a real stigma around having photos taken just for yourself. The perception was that women who wanted these sessions must be vain or narcissistic. But I saw something different—women who wanted to reconnect with themselves, to see themselves through a lens of love instead of judgment.

The truth is, we’ve been conditioned to think that caring for ourselves is indulgent. Many of us were raised to put everyone else first and only pursue self-expression if it fit into acceptable boxes. But here’s the thing: true self-love isn’t about arrogance or vanity. It’s about finally allowing yourself to take up space, to be seen, and to honor who you are.

Redefining Self-Love

As women and those who identify as feminine, we’re often taught that our worth is tied to how well we serve others. But you can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is essential if you want to show up fully for the people you love.

Self-love isn’t about seeking validation from others—it’s about appreciating yourself, setting boundaries, and knowing your worth. When you love yourself, you become more secure and capable of uplifting those around you.

Embrace Self-Discovery

Self-love leads to growth, and growth naturally brings self-discovery. Journaling is a fantastic way to explore your inner world. Here are a few prompts to get you started:

  • What makes me feel most alive?

  • What parts of myself have I been told to shrink, and why?

  • How can I show myself more compassion today?

The more you learn about yourself, the more empowered you become. Even the parts you once rejected have a place and purpose.

Celebrate Your Own Magic

Life becomes so much richer when you celebrate the little moments. Find what lights you up and lean into it—whether it’s dancing to your favorite song, picking up a creative hobby, or simply savoring a quiet cup of coffee.

I’ve been romanticizing my everyday routines—turning mundane tasks into intentional rituals. One of my favorites is bullet journaling, where I add creative elements and affirmations. These small acts of joy make life feel magical.

Choose What Nourishes You

The world around you directly impacts how you see yourself. Surround yourself with people, spaces, and media that uplift and inspire you. Curate your social media feed, declutter your space, and set boundaries with relationships that don’t serve your well-being.

Embody Confidence Daily

Confidence isn’t just a mindset—it’s something you practice. Wear what makes you feel amazing, stand tall, and own your presence. And remember, your body is not just something to be looked at—it’s the vessel that carries you through life.

Taking selfies can be a powerful act of self-love—not for validation, but to capture yourself as you are, in moments of joy and authenticity.

The Ripple Effect

When you fully embrace yourself—flaws, strengths, and everything in between—you radiate a magnetic confidence. That energy is contagious. By prioritizing your well-being and showing up as your authentic self, you inspire others to do the same.

So start today. Choose one small act of self-love. Look in the mirror and say something you adore about yourself. Wear that outfit that makes you feel unstoppable. Set a boundary without guilt.

The more you obsess over yourself, the more you show the world that self-love is the ultimate power move.
